Tis The Season to What?

Snow fell for the first time this year today, it was great to see. Gabes eyes lit up as he woke me up to show me it. Some things in life are unexplainable to me. I may not have school like most kids my age and I may not be working a 12 hour job, but my life is more hectic than anyone I know. I feel that I’ve been expected by my friends and even some of my family to put all of the effort into our relationships. Where I’m supposed to get this effort in a mystery to me. Because of Gabe, Robin and I spend most of our day minimizing stress. Trying to not take it out on Gabe because he doesn’t understand what he does. We are all only human and we have our limits. Is it too much to ask that somebody who isn’t being pushed past their limits, put some effort into our relationships. I love a lot of people deeply and I’m sure I haven’t had time to show them that lately. I just wish some people would look past their innitial feelings and see there is a bigger problem that needs solving. If I could have anything for Christmas this year, it would be for my friends and family to have compassion and understanding. I don’t have the umph to fight, and i’m about the curl up in a ball.

New Cd’s I’ve Listened To.

The Felice Brothers: I saw them live last month and didn’t really have an opinion, they steadily gained play and become one of my favorite bands. The singer reminds me sometimes very much of Bobby D.

The Smashing Pumpkings : Earphoria. One of my favorite bands, one of the worst cd’s I’ve ever heard. It’s definately low budget and raw, and most things I enjoy raw. This is just horrid though.

Ray Lamntongtangfddkfjgsd however you spell his name. Can’t stand it, forced airy voice just makes me feel he’s trying far too hard to make a certain vocal noise and he still can’t achieve it, over-rated to me for sure. A lot of people like him.

Bonnie Prince Billy’s ‘lie down in the light’. Brilliant CD, all the way through. This and the self titled Felice Brothers CD are my top 2 of the year by far.

The Gleam 2: Apparently I’m not a true fan to the Avett Brothers. This cd’s OK. But if an Avett Brothers CD is just OK, they are underperforming. They’re amazing both live and not. I won’t skip this CD if it comes up but it will never be one I turn to on purpose.

DeerHunter-Microcastle: An interesting cd that i’ve been listening to online. Very good background music with a different take on a not so different style.

The Creepy Weird Neighbor Is Into Halloween?

So we have this neighbor who sits in his house looking out his blinds or through his front door slightly cracked open. He does this 365 days a year and Robin and I think he wont the lottery or got a huge settlement from being hit by a bus or something. He doesn’t work, he’s always there and he is always wearing flip flops with socks. Anyways, the guy is completely decked out for Halloween. He has the caution tape and the lights-a-blaring spider-webs and pumpkins. If you come by my house i’d reckon you stay clear from mr old creepy hammer-pants, i wouldn’t trust him further than i can spit.

My friends ex-wife(ish) wrote this to me in a message yesterday. What a petty accusation. I wrote her because she had posted this long drawn out sap story of how she doesn’t understand why “God” is putting her through what she’s going through. (She cheated on her husband (my friend) and is now using her baby as leverage and to execute revenge). I said something along the lines of: “Don’t put the consequences of your actions on God. If you don’t know the reason your life isn’t going well you’re ignorant.” She then proceeded to post a public bulletin about how she hates judgemental people.

So, it’s getting harder and harder to relate with the so called Christians I know. I go to church, I don’t feel connected and often feel completely out of place; and rightfully so. Since when was “God” a scapegoat for our actions? The modern Christians seem to think they can throw God’s name around in sentences where he doesn’t belong. I thought we had free will to do what we want? And if we do, then how can these people say things like “God is putting me through… (insert the BS here).” I tell you what, I’ve made some pretty bad decisions in my life, and God had nothing to do with them. Today’s society (especially the church) would rather turn a blind eye to ignorance and bad decisions, than face it head on with dignity. Anyone who stands up for their beliefs, and I mean, does NOT waver, is tagged with terms like ‘judgemental’. Many times I’m thought of as being conceded. I honestly don’t think I’m better than any other person. Does that mean I can’t be hurt for my friend who’s wife has cheated on him and is now using his child as leverage and revenge? Am i conceded for being offended when people don’t follow through with what they say they are going to do? I wasn’t aware that just because I can recognize a bad decision, that I’m conceded.

This will most likely be my only blog concerning religion since it’s the only thing noteworthy I’ve had to say about it in years. I am a Christian based on my belief of how the world was created and what Jesus did, not by my actions OR reactions. I just wanted to mention one more thing, and this is to those Christians accusing people of being conceded or judgemental. It says in the bible Jesus did not sin, he had no flaws and we are supposed to act like him. He flipped the hell out when he found out people were doing business inside the church on the sabbath. He threw tables. Do you want to tell me that someone cheating on their husband and using their own child is not worthy of anger and pain? There is a difference between standing up for what is universally right, and being judgemental. You don’t need religion to know what is right and wrong. You don’t need God to have a moral compass. So if someone is cussing, doing drugs, having premarital sex, fighting, looking at porn, lying, stealing, or doing anything wrong at all.

Life has dealt my family a huge blow in the past 2 years, even more so in the past 2 weeks. Luckily I have a great, close-knit group of friends and family to keep me distracted. Robins has been supportive and our son Gabe has been a light through the darkness. My good pal Eric and I went to see Deer Tick and the Felice Brothers a week ago and all you need to know is they closed with ‘lalabamba’. It was amazing. I wouldn’t be able to go through all of this without music, that’s a fact. Check it. What a downer blog, but that’s my life as of this week.
